'Atomic' is a documentary exploring the personal effects of accelerating individualism in the digital age on women and their personal relationships in London. Through reflexive documentary filmmaking — interviewing several women from different backgrounds, using archival footage and employing different cinematic techniques and processes — 'Atomic' aims to convey the complexity of how women, who are socialised to take on more personal social roles, are affected by individualism accelerated by digital technologies and neoliberalism. The research reveals this to be a personal topic that everyone experiences differently; for every participant it produces a form of introspection about how we interact with ourselves and the community around us.
