You and I are Earth:

Nebahat Akca, Unspoken

short film

This hybrid short film weaves together three undelivered letters titled “To My Mum,” “To My Country,” and “To Her.” Through these physical artefacts within the cinematic artefact, we follow a young woman as she reflects on love, identity, and belonging, writing to people and places that have shaped her. Her words are never reached by the other parties, but they echo over visuals that blur the lines between fiction and documentary.

Using both personal archives alongside scripted scenes and documentary fragments, the film explores the space between reality and fiction. It is a visual essay on nostalgia and the quiet weight of unspoken emotions. The viewer is invited into the inner world of the filmmaker, where diary-like narration meets striking imagery to create a visual essay of nostalgia. This narrated essay is a reflective piece that speaks to the complexity of identity and the unresolved nature of unspoken feelings.
