The Line We Crossed is an interactive VR experience exploring the impact of a one-metre sea-level rise through a speculative flooded future, with Qingdao's coastline serving as a real, emotionally resonant reference point. Combining street interviews, filmed footage, and real-time VR interaction, the project reflects on psychological distance — how climate change is often understood as distant or abstract until it enters familiar spaces, memories, and everyday life.
Ziqing Xia is a BA Media student working across documentary, sound design, and interactive media. She is interested in memory, perception, place, and the relationship between reality and speculative representation, often combining filmed footage with constructed digital environments to examine how audiences experience space, emotion, and narrative.
