You and I are Earth:

Haoen Li,

side-scrolling rhythm game

The artefact is a rhythm-based side-scrolling runner game that transforms speed perception into a visual representation of ecological energy cycles. The player takes on the role of an "Eco-Messenger" traversing diverse natural environments to restore energy balance, navigating through a climate change timeline. The gameplay mechanics emphasize speed as a metaphor for the flow of ecological energy, dynamically linking acceleration to carbon footprint reduction.
Key mechanics include the “Eco Energy Burst”, where collecting fallen leaves and sunlight triggers a rapid speed boost, and the “Photosynthesis Dash”, where light accumulation enables a chlorophyll transformation, enhancing speed and transparency. The “Earth Pulse Glide” rewards players with streamlined movement when following subterranean water pathways, while “Monsoon Leap” aligns player momentum with wind direction, promoting fluid traversal.
The visual design employs kinetic effects like motion blur and dynamic particle trails to heighten the sense of speed, while synchronized audio cues amplify rhythmic momentum. The project aims to merge interactive storytelling with ecological awareness, using the visceral experience of motion to engage players in contemplating humanity’s relationship with nature and the urgency of ecological balance.
