Listing No.2003 is a 3D reconstruction of a 2000s Chinese family apartment, inspired byrental agency photographs from the era. Through color palettes, lighting, renderingtechniques, and sound design, the project recreates the distinct visual and atmosphericqualities of these archival listings while exploring nostalgia as both an aesthetic and affectiveexperience.Set on a quiet Saturday, a child spends the day alone at home, passing time in theapartment while waiting for their parents to return. As players navigate the space, smallinteractions with everyday objects—flickering TV screens, distant voices on the radio, thehum of household appliances—bring the apartment’s nostalgic presence to life, making thepast feel both familiar and distant.Rooted in nostalgia and media hauntology, Listing No.2003 examines how digitalenvironments evoke lost temporalities through past media artifacts. Spaces becomehaunted—not by ghosts, but by traces of outdated technology, ephemeral aesthetics, andmemories suspended between presence and absence. Blurring the line between digitalreconstruction and lived experience, the project captures the uncanny quality of inhabiting apast that exists only through its mediated remnants.
