Leverets is a short film working between hand-drawn and 3D animation, and live action. Exploring the phenomenological qualities of childhood memory through surrealist cinematic form, it moves across haptic texture, continuous bodily movement, and perceptual slippages between spaces, constructing an experience that is felt before it is understood. A rabbit moves through the film as memory moves — present, lost, worn, and partially returned.
Emily Chen is drawn to feelings that are difficult to articulate. This film grew from an interest in animation, moving images, and the collision between different ways of making. She wanted to explore what childhood memory feels like — not what it contains, but how it lingers.
