For You? is an experimental video essay that investigates how TikTok users negotiate trust and authenticity with TikTok news content. It transports the viewer through a vertical feed of different TikTok storytelling techniques to analyse, critique, and interpret how trust is navigated online. The work combines interviews, academic research, and content analysis to create a synthesised view of how credibility is portrayed online, and what the implications are of algorithmically driven 'news' platforms. The artefact situates itself within wider research on TikTok's algorithm replacing traditional journalistic standards, such as news values, and how this impacts power within the attention economy.
