Distorted is an experimental documentary exploring how social media, television, and sport saturate young men's lives with overexaggerated, unrealistic ideals of how to look, eat, exercise, and live. This bombardment sets heavy expectations and distorts their view of reality and of themselves, contributing to depression, poor body image, and unhealthy habits.
Drawing on Ryan Lambert's own experiences in the gym, the film places him alongside a friend executing the same exercises — and still feeling inadequate. Emphasising the overwhelming soundscape of the gym, the film asks viewers to consider that the only meaningful comparison is with yourself.
